Frequently asked
How many hotels are under renovation right now?+
HotelChrono is tracking 34 hotels across 16 countries that are currently closed, phased or announced for renovation — 23 of them fully closed.
Does "under renovation" mean the hotel is closed?+
Not always. A full closure-and-rebuild is closed and not bookable; a phased renovation keeps the hotel open while some areas are worked on; an announced renovation has not started yet. We label each one, with an expected reopening where it is sourced.
Why isn't a hotel under renovation counted as "fresh"?+
Only a completed renovation raises a hotel's Chrono Score. A renovation that is announced or under way is shown as "freshness pending" — its score reflects the last completed state, never the work that hasn't finished.
Can suppliers use this list?+
Yes. Hotels in renovation today — and those approaching their cycle — are the core of Renovation Radar, our lead tool for FF&E suppliers and contractors.
