How can I find out how old a hotel is?
Search for the hotel by name above. Each hotel page shows the year it was built or opened, the year of its last completed renovation, and a link to the page each date comes from.
What is the difference between when a hotel was built and its last renovation?
The build year tells you how old the building is. The last renovation tells you how fresh the rooms are today. A hotel built in 1925 and fully renovated in 2023 can be fresher than one built in 2005 and never renovated since.
Is an old hotel a bad hotel?
No. Many of the world's best hotels are in historic buildings. What usually matters for your stay is how recently the rooms were renovated — that is what the Chrono Score measures.
Where do the dates come from?
From public sources: the hotel's own website, its chain, official announcements, the press and reference works. Every date links to the sentence and page it comes from. If we cannot find a source, we leave the date empty rather than guess.
