From the founder
I'm Sašo Radović, founder of HotelChrono (operated by Divil d.o.o., Maribor, Slovenia). I built this because the one fact that decides your stay — when the hotel was last renovated — is the one no booking site will show you.
So we built the independent record of it: every built and renovation year linked to a cited source, with one rule we never break — no quote, no data. If we can't source it, we don't publish it as a fact. That standard is the whole product.
Why HotelChrono exists
You can book a five-star hotel and walk into a tired room. You can book a modest three-star and find it was rebuilt last year. Star ratings measure facilities — not how recently anyone touched the building. The single most useful fact about a room is also the one no booking site will show you: when it was last renovated.
We're building the independent record of that fact — for every hotel on earth. Not estimates, not marketing: a sourced timeline of when each property was built and renovated, distilled into one honest Chrono Scorefrom 1 to 10. It's a new category — and we're creating it, one cited date at a time.
And it compounds: every guest searching “recently renovated hotels in [city]” is a live demand signal that sharpens our Renovation Radar for suppliers. The consumer side and the B2B side feed each other — a flywheel no B2B-only tool can copy.
Our mission
Make hotel freshness transparent. A 5-star hotel can be tired; a 3-star can be brand new. The Chrono Score (1–10) measures freshness only — never mixed with star ratings.
Our iron rule
No quote, no data. Every build and renovation year links back to the exact source sentence it came from. Built for due diligence, not guesswork.
How we gather data
Open data (OpenStreetMap, Wikidata, public registries) plus live AI research with cited sources. We never scrape OTA or hotel photos — that respects copyright and terms.
Always current
An autonomous engine keeps the database growing and re-verifying around the clock — prioritising the most recent renovation, never stale data.
