Sourced hotel freshness data

How fresh is the hotel you’re about to book?

Every hotel gets a Chrono Score (1–10) for freshness — built and last-renovation years, each linked to a cited source. The signal no booking site shows.

A living database

An AI pipeline reads official sources, links every date to a citation and keeps the data fresh — daily.

Our iron rule: no quote, no data. Every published year links to a source sentence — and where a renovation is only announced or under way, we say so rather than calling it fresh.

From the founder

“The one fact that decides your stay — when the hotel was last renovated — is the one no booking site will show you. I built HotelChrono to track it for every hotel, link every date to its source, and never call a hotel ‘fresh’ without proof.”

Frequently asked

What is HotelChrono?+

HotelChrono is a sourced, comparable database of when hotels were built and last renovated. It tracks 4,966+ hotels across 66 countries; those with enough sourced evidence get a Chrono Score (1–10) for freshness, and every published build or renovation year links to a cited source. Hotels without sufficient evidence stay unscored rather than guessed.

What is the Chrono Score?+

The Chrono Score is a 1–10 freshness metric based on how recently a hotel was built or renovated. It is deliberately kept separate from star ratings — a higher score means a fresher hotel, not a more luxurious one.

How is the renovation data verified?+

Our iron rule is “no quote, no data”: every build and renovation year links to the exact source sentence it came from. A renovation that is only announced or still in progress is never counted as “fresh”.

Is HotelChrono free to use?+

Yes — searching any hotel's timeline and Chrono Score is free. Paid tools include Renovation Radar (renovation-lead forecasting for FF&E suppliers), the verified hotelier badge, and a commercial data API.
